Second part of Assignment 1 of Terryl Whitlatch's Creature Anatomy course. I have some mixed feelings about some of the design choices but I do feel good about this overall. The feathers and markings were quite tedious to draw but also fun watching it all come together
Mixing human and bird anatomy was quite the challenge but turned up an interesting result I find. Took some liberties of course, and intentionally gave it's wings more of a splayed configuration closer to that of a hawk's wings than the falcon's more streamlined wings due to this creature being a bit larger and heavier than typical falcons. Gives it a bit more surface area to fly at the expense of some of it's speed. However he can still dive bomb from above with devastating results. Much like his real world counterpart. Being part human I can also see a lot of potential for clothing and accessories that this species could use as well as it's possible culture as an intelligent species.
